IMPORTANT CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE 30th MARCH 2020
Commencing this week, people identified as being in the highest risk groups will be sent a letter from the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Catherine Calderwood, with advice on how to protect themselves and access the care and treatment they need during this pandemic. Click HERE for further information.
If you identify as being in the high risk group but have not received a letter or text by the end of this week you should check the NHS Inform website or contact the surgery
We want to reassure you that you will still get the usual medical care you need during this period. Due to the situation, demand for all health services is very high and your GP practice will be in touch with you as soon as they can to arrange with you how best to ensure that. Please only get in touch with us if you have any significant concerns.

From 8am on Monday 23rd March NHS24 are now the first point of contact for any suspected Covid-19 related concerns. Please check the NHS Inform website (www.nhsinform.scot/coronavirus) for more information.
You should only call 111 if you feel you cannot manage your symptoms at home or if the NHS Inform website does not answer your Covid-19 query.
This change is being implemented across Scotland due to the high volume of suspected Covid-19 calls coming through to allow General Practices to continue to provide care for any non-Covid 19 related health matters.
If you do contact the practice and it is a Covid 19 related matter you will be asked to call 111.

Private Insurance Forms
The surgery is currently receiving a lot of requests for travel cancellation forms from people who want to cancel their trips due to the risk of contracting coronavirus.
Please click here for advice from the Foreign Office regarding travelling to specific areas of the world . Depending on your specific travel insurance policy, most insurance companies will cover cancelled trips to countries to which the Foreign Office advise not to travel. No certificate from your GP is required.
In addition, please be advised that the surgery is unable to provide letters or certificates to travel insurance companies supporting requests for refunds by patients who, without any significant medical illness, cancel their travel plans.

Many minor ailments such as coughs and colds can be treated with medicines available at your local pharmacy or the supermarket. This helps you feel better quicker and keeps our appointments available for when we are needed. We have a minor ailments area of our website (which you can access by clicking here or clicking minor illness on the right side of this page) which is designed to help you with how to manage minor illnesses in you and your family. The NHS also has a useful website called NHSInform to help you make decisions about who is the most appropriate person to ask for help from for a variety of issues.
