Appointment Types

We offer a number of different types of appointment, to try and suit different patients and illnesses and to try and give as many options for patients as possible.  We appreciate this can sometimes be quite confusing for patients so here is information about what we offer.


Doctor Appointments
  • Book Ahead
    • Available to book usually from about 10 weeks ahead of the day
    • Useful for booking a review appointment for a future date for an ongoing issue
  • Same Day Appointments
    • Requests for same day appointments should be made by completing an online consultation via
    • Our clinical team will triage these requests and you will receive a prompt response from the surgery 
    • Useful for short notice illnesses like infections, or illnesses that it wouldn't be appropriate to wait for a couple of a weeks to get seen eg severe pain, new onset shortness of breath
    • If you are unable to access the online system please contact the surgery on 0345 337 1160 and one of our admin team will assist you 
  • Duty doctor
    • If there are no appointments and you feel it urgently needs dealt with today, or you require a home visit, it will be passed to our duty doctor
    • If you think you might require a home visit - please try and phone by 10:00am so that we can allocate a doctor to see you, usually over lunchtime
    • Only available on the day
    • Useful for urgent problems eg severe pain, shortness of breath when no appointments are left, or home visits
  • Telephone Consultations
    • Offered each day with GPs, ANPs and Physician Associate - available to book around 10 weeks in advance
    • Useful for medical problems which don't require you to be examined
  • Attend Anywhere Video Consultations
    • Can be booked up to 12 weeks in advance
    • Suitable for patients who have difficulty in attending the surgery
    • Suitable for issues which do NOT require a physical examination from the GP
    • Please ask receptionists if you think this type of appointment would suit you best
  • Doctor & Nurse Appointments
    • An appointment where both the doctor and nurse see you together
    • Useful for intimate examinations which need a chaperone, or where 2 pairs of hands are needed eg coil insertion, minor surgery
  • Home Visits
    • Are organised by the duty doctor
    • Available when patients are too unwell to come to the surgery
    • Usually only over lunchtime unless in an emergency 
  • Evening
    • On Monday and Wednesday evenings alternate weeks.  Bookable 10 weeks ahead
    • Useful for those unable to attend during working hours
    • Please note chaperones for intimate examinations are usually not available in the evenings so if you require an intimate examination, an appointment during the day may be more appropriate
  • Speciality
    • eg Diabetic
    • We will contact you to organise, or if you have received a letter asking you to book eg a diabetic appointment, please speak to reception.  These appointments are usually bookable 10 weeks ahead of time


Nurse Practitioner Appointments

  • These can be booked in advance for both face to face or telephone appointments and are available for same day appointments for under 16s and after triage of same day requests
  • Not suitable for pregnant women, sick lines or mental health issues


Nurse Appointments
  • All available to book 10 weeks in advance
  • Phlebotomy (blood taking)
  • General Nurse Appointment
    • eg for swabs, dressings, stitch removal
  • Chronic Disease
    • eg Asthma, Heart Disease, Hypertension
    • We will invite you to any appointments appropriate to you - if you think you should be being seen and aren't - please contact the surgery
  • Childhood immunisation
  • Travel Clinic
    • Please contact the surgery for advice on travel AT LEAST 8 weeks in advance of you travel date
