Practice Update – December 2021

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to adapt and change our ways of working with the ongoing pandemic.

We continue to have a controlled entry system into the surgery and part of this system involves asking all who come to the surgery a list of screening questions set by the Scottish Government. While we have been doing this for some time we must now ask a few more questions. You may receive these screening questions within your appointment reminder text to complete online which will save you time prior to arriving for your appointment. Please answer them truthfully.

We are doing this to separate those patients with potential infections from those who are frail or clinically vulnerable and for whom catching Covid or other respiratory illnesses could be very serious. Anyone needing seen but who has potential infection will be seen in our isolation area. This protects not only our least well patients but also our staff who must wear additional PPE and have strict infection control measures for such patients.

We continue to use eConsult as our preferred method of contact and we also continue to provide appointments by phone, video or face to face where appropriate.

We, like all practices, are trying to meet the increased demand currently, and this is particularly challenging due to staff illness, enforced spells of self-isolation and leave. Please be mindful of this when you are dealing with staff. We, like everyone are very much looking forward to the time when we are through this pandemic.

We hope that by continuing to provide services in this way, we can do our bit to keep you safe throughout the winter ahead. We hope that you understand the reasons for our ongoing measures and thank you to those patients who are doing their bit by getting vaccinated, wearing face masks and supporting our very fragile NHS.

Wishing you all a Covid safe festive season.
